I had heard several times over the years that I should just forgive and move on, that I would feel better if I just forgave, but I didn’t understand the first step in how you start that process, and I also thought that forgiveness meant so many things that it didn’t mean at all.

I thought it would mean that I was OK with what had hurt me to begin with. That’s not the case. I thought it meant that I accepted what was done and that accepting it meant I agreed or was ok with it. That isn’t true either.

I thought forgiveness was for him, and that it would require a conversation and an apology. Not true either!
